It seems so romantic to build a new generation vehicle. As Tesla shown, it takes a long time to come near profitability or produce in volumes. What does a vacuum cleaner maker know about making EVs profitable? Never should have gone there, may be become a supplier for some of the precision electrical components.

Founder James Dyson announced the news to employees on Thursday saying he "simply can no longer see a way to make it commercially viable."

Dyson has vast expertise with electric motors and batteries, but apparently couldn't turn that into a workable business model for a Range Rover-size utility vehicle it had been planning to produce in Singapore and sell throughout Asia (and then beyond).

Yup, the car business is super tough and capital-intensive. Unless you have seriously disruptive tech, forget about it. I'm guessing the solid-state battery they were putting their faith in didn't pan out like they hoped.
