Came home today; parked the SE in the garage. Piddled around in the house for a few hours. Went back out to the SE to get something out of the car and up popped a message: "drivetrain malfunction. Please get off the road"--or words to that effect--"and contact a service center."

Has anyone seen this message? It mentioned that the car would be put into a safe mode that would allow me to drive it to a service center.

Kasumi has less than 1500 miles. I'll be contacting my dealership tomorrow.

I’ve had this one twice. I like my Mini but this is disappointing.

First time I was driving on a road and coming to a stop, drivetrain malfunction and everything locked. Car wouldn’t go into neutral / drive / reverse. Car blocked a lane of traffic for the next 45 minutes while I waited for a flatbed. Went to BMW and they found a wire that appeared to be the frayed and the cause.
Second time was today. I was about to park, went to put it in reverse and the error came up. Car would move into Neutral this time and I pushed it about 10 feet so it could be parked…. That was very difficult, even in neutral you are pushing against the electric drive, nothing like an old school ICE. Car is back at BMW, won’t know the reason a while. No one else have this?

I had something similar a while back, warning came up advising me to press side button before selecting a drive change. As I was doing 60km/h at the time I ignored it. When I went to park it was locked in gear and blocked a lane access in rush hour traffic. Not something I particularly enjoyed but the tow truck and Uber came fast enough. The culprit was a connector on the side of the shift lever. Apparently something that has happened before with my build window. Took about 2 weeks to fix, part came from Germany.
