Hi Folks,
Do you think cars are built according to production number sequence worldwide? Or per country? or per trim?
For the same trim, can we compare two numbers ( at least for the same trim) and say which one will be built first?
While waiting for your MINI Cooper SE, time slows down for you despite the hectic pace of the world around you. There's almost nothing else that can produce that effect. So enjoy this unique period of slow-time--don't waste it refreshing your My Garage screen over and over.
There's a chance that the SE you've ordered could fall victim to the dread supply chain. Then cars with higher production numbers--but fewer options--may sail right by your car while it sits waiting for that suddenly rare, optional part.
Even after you've been told your SE has been built, it may end up sitting at either port for an unpredictable amount of time. Then your MA will go on vacation and your car will be forgotten at your dealership so no one will tell you it has actually arrived. After their surprise and their acknowledgement that your SE is on the lot, it will be Friday and they won't be able to start prepping it for delivery until the next Monday.
In August, 2020, nearly a year after I ordered a MINI Cooper SE that hadn't yet begun production, the best car I've ever owned was finally delivered and time resumed its headlong rush. The only way I can be sure my SE didn't arrive just yesterday is remembering all the people who have been my passengers or drivers and come away amazed at the prowess of this great little electric car.
There are three sources of delivery information available to you: your MA, My Garage, and 1-866-ASK-MINI. Unfortunately, they don't always agree. It will be interesting to see if one of the more intelligent members of this forum comes up with a plausible answer to your important question.
If you have a production number, you're in the game--you're getting a MINI built at Plant Oxford. When you SE arrives, I hope you'll post photos and tell us if you gave it a name.
