My 2018 Clarity with 55k miles has started to show an odd charging curve on level 2 chargers. It starts off around 6 kw but after about 5-10 minutes it will throttle back to anywhere from 1 to 3kw. It then gradually (over then next hour or so) ramps up. Sometimes it will make it all the way back to 6kw other times it settles around 4 kw. The total charge is still around 10-11 kwh for a ‘zero’ to full battery although the range is only around 20 miles. I attributed the range loss to the cold and I got new tires last year. This is happening on both public chargers and my home charger (all level 2 Chargepoint). Air temp has been in the low teens to mid 30’s since I’ve notice this. Looking back at Feb 2024, it always charged at 6-7kw on my home charger in the cold then. My other EV (Hyundai Ioniq 5) charges normally on the same level 2 home charger. The car isn’t showing any error codes.
Is this normal? I still have to take it in for the fuel pump recall and I was thinking of bringing this up with the tech too. Any ideas??
