I've noticed a lot of supplier announcements of motors and battery systems for EV vehicles. But this means 'generic' parts, not ones designed as part of the EV as a system. As a cheat, a quick kludge, understandable BUT it leads to mediocre EV performance. The 'catalog' managers are deferring the hard problem of hiring and training design engineers to optimize EV performance:

If I wanted to swap out an ICE drivetrain for EV, say in a 1960s era, VW MicroBus, a catalog or salvage is the only practical solution. But these are one-time conversions, a hobby EV. It is seeing an existing manufacturer doing a bad job by application of ICE design rules on a claimed EV that is disappointing.
