Can I use my European EVSE with Type 1 cable in the US?

I have an European EVSE Ecotap Homebox.
It has a type1 cable. I want to know if it is possible to connect an European EVSE in the american grid and if it will work properly. Ecotap was not able to confirm my question.

It depends on your EVSE. If it says it supports 120/240V 50/60Hz, the answer is yes. If it is not specified the answer is no.

I can't understand that while most electric stuff you buy today, electric shavers, hair dryers, even TVs are specified as such. But sadly it is not true for most EVSEs. I used to develop Telecom test equipment and there is no way one would design one without this generic feature. So go figure!
