Cadillac Lyriq price will be less than $60,000

GM North America President Steve Carlisle at a JP Morgan Auto Conference, according to Automotive News, said: "We need to be in the same price zone. This car will need to be priced similar to how the industry prices midsize lux SUVs today, maybe a slight premium at the outset. It's a price that won't be high five digits. It won't start with a seven and it won't start with a six."

So, according to our math, that equals less than $60,000. We would not be surprised to see $59,900, though, so don't expect it to be much less than $60,000.

Also, keep in mind that this is likely for the rear-wheel-drive version, not the all-wheel-drive performance version. The RWD configuration will have 20-30 more miles of range, making that version more attractive fo buyers who don't need AWD.

Previously, Carlisle had said the first all-electric Cadillac will have a base price below $75,000. He made that admission speaking to Ward's Auto.

Interestingly, he also says in this interview that they are contemplating free Lyriq owners. GM recently joined with EVgo and will invest in significantly expanding that fast-charge network.

Thanks for the links. The EVgo article mentions fast charge stations at high volume areas such as grocery stores and "other high volume areas". Have you seen anything on installations at service areas and welcome stations on major highways? I know a few have them but if they all did it would be a huge help for distance travellers.

They say that they're going to focus on charging inside cities rather than between cities. I guess we can think of it as a complement to Electrify America, which is set up to help travel between cities.
