I'm amazed GM would make an expensive, limited-production EV car for the US market rather than a Cadillac Escalade EV based on the Hummer EV.

Despite the Celestiq, I expect the Escalade EV will be coming soon.

No model place holder for it on the Cadillac sub-forum.
I didn't make a Celestiq subforum because it's unlikely we'll get owners posting here. If we do find a prospective buyer or owner, we can always add the subforum. For now, we can post about it in the general Cadillac forum.

Not sure where InsideEVs wants to go with the Forum and even the News section. But it seems to be losing to other forums and news sites, esp more and more lately.

I came here initially because of the Kona Electric info and some very knowledgeable and helpful posters. And it is still pretty good. But with the new Hyundai model EVs all under the Ioniq name, traffic is going to the VerticalScope Ioniq forum. It is very, very active and growing all the time.

Tesla traffic is near dead here, despite it being the most popular EV. Only one prolific poster, BW, but even he often directs poster to other Tesla online sites if they need help. So not many Tesla owners come here if they have questions or issues about their cars.

There is basically zero traffic on the Solterra subforum here, while the VerticalScope forum is very active and growing. And this is before the car is even being delivered. I think that is because this site and News has been very negative on that car, despite it being the ONLY (incl it's Toyota twin) truly off-road capable small SUV EV out there. I have one on pre-order and hope to get it in Dec or Jan. Not sure if or how much I will post here about it, though. Similar to the Ioniq 5, the demand for this vehicle greatly outstrips its supply capabilities. I am #7 on my dealer's list, which is now over 100, and not taking any more orders at this time.

Seem like the most prolific sub forum now is the Mini Cooper one, and wonder how long that will last. I see the Clarity sub forum is waning as the car gradually becomes obsolete.

I used to watch the Podcasts, but haven't looked at one for a long time. The participants seem too opinionated to me with their tunnel vision of what an EV should be, and just don't seem relevant anymore to the real market. The News section also seems to be late all the time with their articles which sound very plagiarized, and not very original or new.

So unless you try to grow some new interest and posters, I don't see how this site survives long term. The best chance to grow is to attract new posters before the car arrives. VerticalScope is very good at that with their "influencers" posting early to get the interest started and discussions going. I don't see that here on InsideEVs. Why don't the Podcast guys post more, esp on the new EV entrant forums that need to get traffic before VS grabs them all?

I was going to ask "what's verticalscope", but a little looking around gave me some notion... then I found this,
which among other commercial-gobbledygook says "...VerticalScope has been a serial acquirer of
communities for the better part of its history, having completed +230 acquisitions.
" Are they in it for
simple corporate greed, or do they take a genuine interest in the goals of those communities? There seems
to be no "verticalscope.com" or other obvious website that goes into more detail.

I'm so glad I found InsideEVs Clarity forum years ago. The knowledge I've gained from the members there is super valuable. Then, when I switched from driving gen-1 Honda Insights for 20 years to a MINI Cooper SE, this InsideEVs forum is even MORE active than the Clarity forum. It has helped many prospective owners through the seeming interminable wait for MINI to make and ship their cars. Many of the members understand batteries and battery chemistry, which I find fascinating.

Best of all, through the excellent moderation of Domenick Yoney, the InsideEVs forums in which I participate are troll-free. I doubt that's the case with more popular Tesla forums, but I can't be sure because I'll never buy a Tesla so I don't look for Tesla forums.

That sounds like a good way to get things moving in a new forum.

I find the InsideEVs podcasts interesting--perhaps because my bias matches that of the podcasters.

Actually, I'd get a lot more work done on my computer if I wasn't spending so much time reading InsideEVs' forums, so maybe they're a bad influence after all ;)

Oh you can bet an electric Escalade is coming. But I think Cadillac wanted to wow people with the Celestiq first.
