I've been having trouble opening my boot during the current freeze.
Friday. It's below freezing. Car in car port. Gave it some climatisation first. Opened boot fine, put some kerosene cans in to drive 1/2 mile to gas station. Boot would not open. Heaved on it, nope. Lock/unlock, nope. Heave, nope. Crawled through car to get them and put them back. Not fun. I made two more stops using passenger seat for my purchases, started up car and it is saying 'boot open'. Hmmm. Well, I'm going to drive home and then check it. Yes, open.
This has happened twice more, since. It seems to happen after a short drive. Is this a known issue?
I'm not wanting to use my boot now.

I do not think it is a known issue. It’s very likely that either the seal is frozen or the lock button is frozen. Or maybe some combination thereof. I would get the car warm and dry, and apply Gummipflege to all seals and rubber trim.

It's not an iced seal. It either opens or it doesn't, none of the crackling typical of an iced seal. It's seems to be something to do with the latch. I've since managed to get it open a few times by pushing down very hard on the boot, or butting it. It needs enough force that I'm worried about denting the boot. Yes, I am built somewhat like a gorilla.
After having it fail to open by hand, then open while driving, it probably isn't the button? But I'll try re-enabling hatch-open remote button.

Not a known issue and none here. We had several days of below zero temps and even with my car's boot getting a bunch of snow blowing as we were clearing the driveway mine opened no issues. I even forgot to add my good stuff to the rubber seals before winter started. Plan on doing so later this week when a warm snap hits.

My guess is that it is a latch issue because if my boot is iced over and it still opens okay I would imagine yours would have to be something bigger. I'd have it checked out.

This year my boot seems to be balky in very cold weather. Acts like its locked and won't unlock. I didn't notice it last winter. Usually it will release with the interior button. I must have spend 20 minutes trying to find that little thing, not wanting to surrender to the owners manual. Managed to find it near the hood latch... or whatever it is suppose to be called :). So it may be something with the exterior button, on the boot, or a coincidence.

I experienced this issue once recently. Boot opened fine at Costco but after an hour or so when I reached home it wouldn’t open. It felt like boot latch was stuck. FWIW weather was in low teens and wind chill in low single digits.

I’d to enable boot button on the key first to open the boot. I wonder if boot latch was frozen due to washer fluid running down the rear window as I might have cleaned it in between the boot usage.
