The SE, with 250km city range, would make for a very large tanked ICE car using the 1/4 tank example. Even priuses (prii, priusees - whatever the plural of prius) would have a hard time getting 1000km from a tank/charge. I am guessing you mean that 1/4 tank the tipping point. So a car that goes say 500km in town per tank would mean an EV with 125km range is acceptable. Yep, said like that, I agree :)

A prius is a hybrid and the prius prime is PHEV so that's not a full ICE comparison. However you could take the good old 2022 corolla with 34mpg combined and a 13.2 gallon fuel tank. One quarter tank should theoretically result in 112.2 miles or 180.56km. I believe that is sufficient for city driving if you have Level 2 or Mode 2 charging at home.

I am very glad that the SE doesn’t have more range than it does. It is perfect for me. More range is more money, weight, and volume. All of which would reduce the appeal of the SE.

My second car has a much bigger battery and about double the range. I appreciate that on weekend trips but there is no reason for both cars to have a 60+kWh battery.
