Are there any non-OEM cargo bars that fit the OEM rails?

I’ve been looking around and haven’t been able to find any. They seem so expensive just for a pair of cargo bars!

Are cargo bars different than a roof rack? I'm not sure if you're just looking for cross bars or if you want something more, like a basket.

Anyway, Thule makes multiple options if you don't like the OEM bars.

I’m just talking about the cross bars. I’ll take a look at thule!

How much have you paid for roof-rack bars in the past? MINI Parts Direct has them for $240.81 which is $80 off MSRP.

Now $241 is the cheapest I’ve seen so far. I’ve been seeing prices in the mid $300 range for oem. Given the kind of tech and materials involved, I would have expected more like $100 for just the two cross bars. Thule bars are $432-$544…

Thule flush rail foot system with aero bars should fit the factory roof rails but the whole kit is like $600

Mini parts direct has the part numbers mixed up.
The part number for the F56 is 82712327916
Oh, I see, good catch.

Though according to ECS, the linked ones are for the F55 4-door hatch, not the R55 Clubman. I'm surprised the 2-door and 4-door would have different bars. Aren't they the same width?

The Mini factory bars are made by Thule.
I looked at a set at the dealer when I picked up my car and noped out, they are not aero bars and unnecessary drag is not what we want.

Thule make aero bars to fit our cars. Bend over and grab your ankles...

So, being a interminable cheapskate, I bought some $125 Chinese F54 aero bars from eBay and cut and drilled them to fit.

The 2x12' ladder was dreadful for drag. I took that straight off when I got home!

Others here have $100 OMACS non-aero bars.

Thule seems to use the same type of bars for their contract setup for car makers (e.g. mini, VW, land Rover etc).

The bars are not as aerodynamic as their wingbar or wingbars evo, but they are somewhat ok compared to square bars.

The OMACS farad bars don't provide enough clearance for the sunroof to open so they would work with roof without sunroof or if you don't plan to open the sunroof.

Wow, seems a bit out of my league but they look very nice

I ran into this issue when I was ordering the OEM load bars for our SE. A handful of websites including ECS have the incorrect model # when you select the SE as your body style. I requested a quote from the dealer which had the correct model number (see pic). I then bought it cheaper somewhere online. I think I paid $220. Cheaper than the Thule options. They’re easy to take on and off, I just throw them on when I need them rather than leaving them on all the time. Sometimes these factory load bars end up on Craigslist for cheap.
