Android Auto messaging issues?

My phone is a Google Pixel 6, running Android 13. Using Messenger in the Clarity, lately, has been more wonky than usual: The car either doesn't respond, can't understand when I speak, takes its own announcements down as dictation and sends them, hears and transcribes what I say and than won't send, etc.

Android Assistant on the phone has no issues handling voice commands, taking dictation, etc.

Has anyone else seen such issues?

Yeah, not sure if it's the car or just Android Auto, but it is completely useless for messaging. Been like that for at least a couple years.

I've noticed it before but the quality seems to have deteriorated even more over the past few months...
