There was a known issue of waze not switching to night mode on Android Auto on Samsung phones with Android Pie (9). I finally received an update on my phone and now, Waze switches correctly to night mode when dark..
Looks like I mis-typed Auto in the title. Can one of the admins or mods fix it?
