All props to @ClarityMTL who came up with the ROP acronym on another thread and answered my plea for a name. All I did was stand on his shoulders and add Engine Start (which may or may not be an improvement). I think we finally have a shorter and easier way to refer to this much observed and much discussed phenomenon. Let the Clarity Brain Trust decide on this or come up with a better name. If the majority can agree on this, I’m going to put the Good House Keeping Seal of approval on it.

Sorry if I offended with my sarcasm. This is not my favorite design characteristic of the Clarity. I have (for the most part) learned to accept it with all of what I love about the car.

BORING: Battery Overcharge Risk Is Negated Grotesquely :p

But seriously, I think ROP is fine. People seem to prefer TLAs... Three Letter Acronyms.

So many creative options! I'm truly humbled to be in the running. :)

Honorable mention to insightman who came up with "premature enginulation" in another thread.

ROPES may be better than ROP from a mnemonic point of view.

For those who would rather not have another abbreviation, I submit this new one-word alternative: regenginate (verb: When the ICE engine starts due to regenerative breaking).

I see that the collective humor on this forum is exceeded only by its collective wisdom and helpful attitude. Keep it coming!
