"The national sporting event, held this year in St. John’s, NL., will use the Toyota bZ4Xs for event transportation and logistics.
Toyota Canada, along with our Atlantic Canada dealers, are proud to support the Canada Games by providing them with a fleet of fully electric vehicles,” said Patrick Ryan, TCI’s Atlantic and Quebec zone manager, in a press note.
From August 8-25, 50 Toyota bZ4X battery-powered vehicles be used “to support the operations, logistics and transportation needs of the Games.”:)

Great marketing on Toyota's part. Along with the publicity, scores of people who wouldn't have looked sideways at an EV will be exposed to them. I hope the driver's spice it up by flooring the "gas" pedal from time to time.
 
We are thinking of switching our Kona EV out for the 2026 BZ when they come out. Do the advertised improvements make it a better car for the BC Interior.
 
There are new Toyotas and Subarus (all built by Toyota) that will be announced soon. I would wait until then. If you are not going to use it for off-road I would look at the Hyundai Ioniq 5. I have both the Solterra and Ioniq 6, and the Hyundai is the better EV, by far, but not for off-road use. It is good for snow, though, with the AWD and Snow Mode. But the Solterra is is very, very good for off-road, but a slow charger. The Ioniq 6 is a very, very good trip car, the best actually.
 
Yes we are looking at the 2026 BX pre release adverts. Our daughter is a Subaru addict and of course wants us to consider the 2026 Solterra when it comes out. I have not seen the prerelease on it yet but I have to assume it will have the same improvements the BX has. We would like a bit more off road capability than the Kona, which was proven last weekend when our daughter was up and we used her Subaru 2024 ICE to go to a mountain lake we like.
 
Yes, that is why we like our Solterra. We have a rough FSR to get to our cabin. We have 8.8" clearance with our one size over AT tires. Plus it has a very good long range suspension, soft on top but stiff enough on the bottom to make for a smooth ride over the bumps.

The Subaru version gets you more features than the Bz has if you get the top trim. Features like memory seats, digital rear view mirror (very handy) and others are only available in the Lexus version. Plus the Solterra was cheaper than the Bz. So it was a no brainer for us.

My 2023 has slow fast charging, but that doesn't matter as we use the Ioniq 6 for trips. We need two cars anyway so are covered for both trips and off-road.
