I’m in process to build a bull bar and I have to build a brackets that’s why I take of a shield from under a car to see where I can attach brackets and how ? without drilling anything into a car chassis. Different than ICE car mix of alloys and steel but I have idea how I’m going to do.I check axels and brakes lines ,suspension just of curiosity how a car is put together. At the same time I snap few pictures with iPod .put a shield back and make nothing of it.Next day I look at a pictures and noticed a BIG bolt connecting motor to transmission was missing .Is few of them I’m not worry for now .Car is have 800 miles .Looks to me Like factory have not enough chips and bolts to put a car together. Arrow on picture show a hole next to bolt which was installed.I noticed also a shield is collecting gravel was a handful of stones and dry salt from winter.I’m going to see service soon to put a bolt where belongs to complete a build.

Anyone can post a picture at bottom of motor from driver side view if is one bolt or two? Please.

Excuse the bad picture, I just shoved my phone through the wheel well and yelled at it to take pictures. Seems like the missing bolt is normal (although my car came with a free rubber band from somewhere!)

There's also a missing bolt on the AC compressor:

Both of these are likely because the components were designed to be used in multiple cars with different mounting points. BMW/MINI make them with extra holes and pick the ones best suited for the application

I really appreciate your effort but you are in wrong location I believe is impossible take a picture what I’m showing through wheel well .Could be done only when a shield for aerodynamic is remove .You are close to axel I see this what I’m looking for is on very bottom on electric motor. That motor stickup about 1/2 “ below any chassis like old time oil pan was lower on some cars .Is right in a center of a car which a motor is lowest point .If you hit a brick on a street a motor is first try to avoid drive to side not a center of a car .I send an email to UK BMW group with pictures I can’t imagine is only my SE or hundreds of them? With missing bolt at that location.

This is a picture of the center of the car. I can't see it through the wheel well but I can shove my arm in a couple of feet and get my phone towards the center of the car to take the picture.

The flat black panel at the bottom of the picture is the felt aerodynamic piece that you removed, I'm just looking from a different angle

MINI Engineer, 2019: "This battery is sooo heavy. Wait! We can save almost an ounce by leaving out this one bolt. We'll just program the ECM to keep the torque low enough on take-off to prevent the motor from twisting itself out of place..."

Today I take Mini to dealer and this extra hole 7/16”x 4” long is for alignment of the rest of a holes to mounted transmission to motor bc this hole have a sleeve inside which I noticed today when I have closer look .Means we good I just panic no missing bolt on SE so far . Once I look under a car I noticed very heavy 4 mounting points with heavy motor mounts attached to really solid cage / frame surrounding a motor which is good think bc I3 with heavy torque was reaping a brackets from car of with strong acceleration .Visit to dealer give me a free wash .No SE ‘s on lot!
