I am having my battery and charge port replaced under warranty at 6500 miles. I am curious if this is a carry over from the prior issues in earlier models and if there is a need for more digging into these items so they don’t continue to be a problem or grow into others. Thoughts/guidance? Questions I should be asking? Things I should be doing?

The story:
In March of 2022, I purchased a new 2022 Kona EV SEL in the US. I was vaguely aware of the prior battery issues and was assured they were resolved through the recall and updates with the 2022 model. I love the car and it’s great for the first three months ~5,000 miles. Things still going great, I tried to make my first service appointment. Due to limited certified techs the earliest appointment was 4 weeks out - not ideal, but okay. A few days after making the appointment my port actuator began making excessive noise at start, stop, lock, unlock, and likely at other times. Spoke with the dealership service department and after a few calls they said it should be fine to drive with the port actuator noise without further damage or reduction in safety. Based on this, I drove the car as usual for daily commute and occasional 2-300 mile day trips and tolerated the noise. A week before my appointment the red “EV Warning light” lit up with a notification on the infotainment screen to seek service immediately - which we did. After sitting a few days, the service dept was able to diagnose the car and called to let me know that the port and EV Battery will be fully replace and it will likely take 1-2 weeks to get the parts and install them. I am thankful this is all covered under warranty, but am wondering if it’s a bump in the road or will it be an ongoing challenge for the life of the car. Any 2022 owners with similar issues? Any advice or guidance anyone is willing to offer?

Thanks in advance.

Both problems are not common but have been reported several times. There's no reason to believe that the car won't be perfectly reliable down the road.

Been driving my 2022 since last September her in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada with no problems -have 7600 kms on it...sorry you have had this problem...
