FYI, it appears BMW is holding off on sales of the BMW i3 because of a recently discovered weakness from NHTSA crash testing. Limited to unbelted, 5%, small females, BMW is working on a fix but until then all deliveries are suspended. Needless to say, BMW i3 advocates are not happy about it.

I had heard but am suspicious that their new software may inhibit our ability to code the BMW i3-REx into a useful car. I'll let the others try it first ... or take a 'test drive.'According to InsideEVs contributor Tom Moloughney, he's heard that,"Our engineers are about to finish the programming of a software repair solution that will fix the non-compliance issue. The software development is in the final stages and the solution is expected to be available as of mid-December."
Not sure how they fix this with software, but there you go.
