I’m deciding between a 2016 27k/miles 79 SOH vs a 2017 52k/m 86 SOH. The 2017 model is slightly cheaper and my assumption that the higher mileage 2017 with the better battery would be a better buy because the battery degrades before the car. Is that logic correct and is there anything else I should consider?

Timotheos, I'm no authority or expert on this, but here's my two cents.

I think high mileage on an EV tells that the battery has gone through more charging cycles so be sure to check up on the health of the battery before purchasing. I would get LeafSpy if you don't already have it and check both cars to see how many times they were fast charged vs. slow, and what the battery health looks like.
