The only problem with this idea is that I actually prefer the chrome, as it matches other elements in the interior and brightens it up a bit.

I've also got the noticeable line in the chrome ring on the steering wheel, but I don't know if I'd call it a crack so much as a visible seam.

Did anyone’s 2 year maintenance result in the dealer wiping out custom Bimmer Code settings? I have things set up exactly the way I want it and would really prefer not having to redo everything.

Most people have said that their settings were wiped due to the 3G sunset update that was applied during the 2 year maintenance appointment.

So if you already have that update, then maybe you'll make it out unscathed.
