    Lithium-air Batteries

From https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/980626 “With further development, we expect our new design for the lithium-air battery to also reach a record energy density of 1200 watt-hours per kilogram,” said Curtiss. “That is nearly four times better than lithium-ion batteries.” If (or when)...

Want to help with an Out of Spec Reviews range test?

Hi everyone! My name is Ryan, I've had my 2017 Premier for about 2 years. I am working on a project with Out of Spec Reviews (https://www.youtube.com/c/OutofSpecReviews), we want to compare the range between a Bolt that received the recall battery replacement and one that has not. We're looking...

Real World Range of Hummer EV

Several owners on the HummerEV Facebook group have been noticing real world range for the Hummer can be significantly higher than what the EPA has shared during day to day normal driving. Example: Here is a very high GOM guess from a user in the group...

    Is this good energy consumption?

Hi, about two months ago I got delivery of the 2022 Kona Electric long range. Although there was an initial manufacturing defect with the climate system that I had to get fixed in the service center, I am loving the car so far! Attached is my energy consumption for last month. Are those good...

Getting crazy driving range from my 2022 Niro EV.

Kia originally said that the Niro EV would get 280 miles per charge. Then the EPA tested it and said its range was 236. Now, we've been loving our 2022 Niro EV. We have even learned to slow our driving down (to the posted speed limits! LOL) We make a game out of keeping the economy mode at...

Do any SE owners here commute 80 miles or more round trip?

I'm considering the SE as my commuter car and round trip for me will be about 80 miles or so. Does anyone here do a similar commute with their SE? is there constant range anxiety? Is the 114 mile range much worse in the winter? I'm hoping that there's EV charging available near my work, but...

    EV Spreadsheet - US version

Here's a quick EV spreadsheet I put together. I was hoping it may help some people who may not have all data in one place. I know it's not perfect. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/60i5c3rse7mcwpmepx8an/EVcomparison_US.xlsx?dl=0&rlkey=9xvy8mlofsa4fte4fbc3s8acf

What percentage is real world of EPA, WLTP, NEDC?

Hi folks, I'm trying to work out the range of an EV needed for regular long distance driving based on manufacturers' quoted ranges. I've arrived at these approximate numbers: Real world range is: 94% of EPA 85% of WLTP 70% of NEDC and about 80% if you don't know what test cycle is quoted. Any...

    MINI SE Range Test (90km/hr)

We drove the MINI from a completed full charge down until it put itself in park at a consistent 56mph / 90km/hr. The temps were chilly (45-50 degrees F), green mode, climate in auto 68-70F (second level fan). The car managed 132 miles before coming to a stop. Pretty impressive! Kyle

Hyundai Kona EV not charging to full range

I purchased a Hyundai Kona EV Limited on March 12, 2020 for $40,000. After 3 weeks, ~600 miles, the 100% charge range was only about 215 miles, well below the advertised range of 258 miles. To be clear, this isn't about "driving style", I am saying when you fully charge at 100%, the range on the...

    Cold Weather Range

Well the cold weather has begun in earnest in New England and frankly I'm a little disappointed in how much having the heater on affects range. I was wondering if anyone had any cold weather tips. Also, does using the the heated seat and/or the heated steering wheel affect rage? TIA!

Alex on Autos' show-tour of the MINI Cooper SE

2021 Mini Cooper SE Electric First Drive Alex on Autos is many people's favorite automobile reviewer. I'm one of his fans. Although he incorrectly labels this video as the 2021 Mini Cooper SE First Drive (it's neither), he does a nice walk-around, describing the car's various features (including...

    Model 3 vs Kona EV

I hesitate to even bring up Tesla in this forum since it seems to bring out the worst in people (and, indeed, the worst people period!) however I am curious about something: Now that I have lived with the Kona for a while I'm very confident in its range and that it vastly exceeds its rated range...
