level 2 charger

I currently own a 2017 Audi A3 etron. We have been charging overnight on an extension cord, but the charger unit broke and I'm now looking at solutions. I'm thinking we will end up with another full electric in the next few years so I'm wondering about future proofing with a Level 2 charger...

My Mustart level 2 40 amp home charger is only charging at a 5 per hour rate. It is plugged to a 14-50 outlet and a 50 amp breaker. What could be the issue? From my research, suppose to charge much faster than that right? charger display shows 2.0KW / 0.294KWH Thank you all for the help.
