I just picked up a grey Touring. Now I can share this journey.

I had my grey base cancelled on me 2 weeks ago. (May 24th to be exact, and that was after 3 month of wait time.)
Leading up to that, I have a bad feeling that Clarity was't coming, so there were some email exchange to the sales rep a week prior.
He kinda hinted that I *might not* be getting a Clarity, but he will keep me posted.
So that morning he said he is meeting with Honda Canada, and as soon as the meeting is over, he called me and said, Sorry no 2018 Clarity for you, they are pulling all orders for 2018. Whatever it's there or allocated for, that is all. So unfortunately they didn't get any allocation (or my order wasn't allocated) for the rest of the 2018.

While doing my research for alternative choices all over again. I stumble across on auto trader, and shows couple Clarity posted in Montreal area Honda dealers (no base still, only Touring available)
Sent a message, couple phone call exchanges, put my deposit 24 hours later. and jumped on the train 3 days later, drove home in a brand new Touring.

Couple factor that drive the decision:
    - need a car to start saving gas. (down 1 car, the distance we put on the minivan for the past months went through roof, a lot of driving back and forth because we are down to 1 car.)
    - I really want a Clarity
    - want to take the rebate now.
    - I really want a Clarity
    - one Clarity sitting in the lot, except it's a little bit far.
    - I don't want to wait anymore. (been waiting for 3 month and still nothing.)
    - I really want a Clarity

So yeah, I spent the first 6 hours driving a Clarity back from Montreal.
made it home in one tank (25L) covers 550km. Never realize that gas saving is this significant.
Now, I hope I get my rebate soon!

Congrats, If you mind me asking did you manage to get any discount on it and if yes how much?
I ordered a base model from Langley Honda on April 8th but changed to Touring as one arrived to the dealership on Friday. Didn't want to wait and risk not getting a car at all. I originally negotiated a $900 discount with the dealership on the base model, just wondering if I can hope for more discount since I'm changing to touring.

I'm out. My dealer confirmed he can't order one. I asked about the red touring that I tried which is their demo, but I have my suspicions someone else already asked the same. It's a touring in any case, and I don't feel like spending extra $$ for a navigation system I don't want or need. With all the demand out there from the Ontario rebate they will prob sell it to someone there!

As long as PC does not get majority government, the rebate will stay (I am crossing my finger, spinning 3 times every hour, spit on the sidewalk to wish this is the case)

Well I believe no one will get majority. Irrespective of results , Honda do not produce any more base model for 2018 , so is your strategy is to wait till base model comes this year or next year in the case you described?

If PC does not get majority, they will have a much harder time to remove the rebate. If that is the case, then I will wait for the 2019 MY for my base with the rebate. If the rebate is removed, then there is no pressure to buy the Clarity Touring now (which I suspect is why Honda call us last week to put pressure on us to get the Touring before the election) and I will just wait and see as quite a few new PHEV/EV models are due to arrive in 2019.

I can afford to get the 2018 Touring but I do not think the $4600 is worth it for the added feature compare to the base trim and I am not going to be forced to pay that by a car manufacturer playing games.

Hard to tell from this thread how many are actually waiting for a Clarity vs how many have been told to give up waiting on a 2018 Clarity.
    Especially a base Clarity.
From what i can tell while all the Clarity base trim models have been allocated not all of them have been delivered to the dealer.
So how many people are still waiting on word about their Clarity base trim?

If you look into price of Hybrid Base Accord, the price is 39k,so touring is better than any other options

I emailed the dealership before last weekend, and they wrote me back today - according to them, the Clarity is still coming in, but they don't have an ETA; supposedly they will have an updated ETA sometime next Monday. Fingers continue to be crossed!

I see it now, I think they have just launched a new website. I think all of these cars are spoken for. I'm picking up one of the cars listed there on Tuesday.

Maybe they accidentally listed cars that are already sold? I called a dealership in Ontario a month ago that was the case.

Edit: beat me to it ;)
