What winter tires and rims do you use in the colder months?

Those look sharp! I had to replace the balancing weights on my winter rims as well. In the rear, there's about 1/16" clearance from the brake caliper. Been working great going into our fourth winter now.

 

So... road trip done Yesterday. A total of 550 km in snowy weather, around -2°C, almost 100% highway. Not a lot of snow accumulated, but the roads were wet. Averaged 16.0kWh/100km going (light tail wind), 18.2kWh/100km on the way back (stronger cross/head wind). Cabin heating was set to a confortable 20°C, and I was driving at 105-110km/h.

I was surprised by the 16kWh/100km, which is pretty much what I was getting with the stock summer tires and wheels in optimal conditions (highway, light wind, dry road, ~15°C). The higher consumption figure on the way back is something I got in strong head wind back in October.

At this point, I think it is hard to say if the combinaison of aero wheels and winter tires induce any increase or decrease in power consumption. There is no drastic difference which I think is a good thing. Range does not seem to be affected.
