I refused to buy an extended warranty for my previous car and I started sorely regretting it when just after 3 years passed I had broken sensors, broken power window and lights going off that costed me big bucks to repair right after the warranty expired. That and other considerations listed by fellow forum dwellers got me convinced of getting Hondacare, just in case.

The problem is, although most of your warranties are going to be wasted, you can't afford the 1% chance when you need it. The money is not paid for nothing, it is peace of mind, especially for a new design. I am getting my 6/120K for 1310.

I dug up my hyannis quote from oct and it looks like the prices went up by $10 each.

So, how does the pro-rate refund work in case we have to cancel before the end of the term (car sold etc.)
Is it just amount/years or some other formula ?

Probably no one here is interested in cancelling their contract, but I am in the process of cancelling the one I purchased from Hyannis Honda. Here's what I've done so far.

I couldn't find an online process, but they responded to an email request in a timely manner and sent a cancellation form. I had to send the completed form, contract booklet and proof that I sold the car with the odometer reading. I sent a copy of the bill of sale. They did not provide any information about when or how much the prorated refund would be, but I didn't ask either. Will let you know the details when it's finalized.

    Thanks. Keep us posted.

Also, does anyone know what are covered > 3 years and for how long by the original mfr's warranty ?
I believe the battery has an 8 year/110K warranty that will cover replacement if it goes below 66% SOC.
Powertrain is covered for 5 years/60K
    What else ?

Also, by powertrain, do they mean both the electric motor and the ICE engine or ?

Here is a copy of the contract: https://www.saccuccihondacare.com/Honda_Care_Contract.pdf

Evidently the roadside assistance and some of the other "concierge" benefits are cover by Cross Country Motor Club. If you google their reviews, it will curl your hair or make it stand up on end.

If you don’t mind sharing, how much did you sell it for? Did you sell it back to the dealer? Touring or base?

I traded it, so am not exactly sure how much was trade-in and how much was discount for the new one. I live in an area where any kind of EV is rare and the dealer wanted to sell his car more than he wanted to take mine. I know that put me at a disadvantage and even more so because my car has a CarFax report from a minor collision with a tree. Funny how the most superficial damage will get a car on that list.
I think I probably got around $23K in actual trade-in for my Touring with 10k miles. I doubt I could have gotten much more given the deep discounts and rebates on the new ones and that the area dealers just don't want EV used cars, not to mention the CarFax report.

While it's too late at this point, you didn't happen to be near any CarMax locations? Since their buy quote process is simple and they sell their cars nationwide.

I am near one, but I didn't think to ask them. :(

We paid $1400 I think and our B2B coverage is out to 2026 and 125k miles.

Here's an update on the cancellation of my Honda Care service contract.

About 2 weeks ago I mailed the required docs to the Honda dealer that sold me the contract online (not my local dealer) and today received a letter from Honda Financial Services confirming the contract cancellation. It also stated that I would get a check within 15 days. The amount is approximately 90% of what I paid.

Pretty simple process and reasonably fast turn around, so no complaints. Will let you know when the check actually arrives.
