Warning Chime ringing, No dash indicator quirk

  1. The other day I went to back out of my garage and when I put the car in reverse the warning chime rang and the dash said but the car in park. I did and the chiming stopped. I put it in reverse and again the same message and the chime ringing. There was no indication of what the problem was. I backed out and put it in drive and I got the same message. I then notice both map lights were on and I couldn't turn them off. Turns out the door was not quite completely closed. It was closed on the first latch. So the door open indicator did no light but the chime rings indicating the door was open. I guess they are different switches. It is reproducible as I can get it to repeat by closing the door to the firs click. Hope this helps others who run into this situation

I literally had that happen to me yesterday (first time). I had to attempt to restart it a couple of times and then all was good. I have 2,300 miles on mine and until this not even a hiccup. I’ll keep you posted.

The door switches are *in* the latch mechanisms now, as opposed
to an external plunger in the doorframe. Half-closed is an "open"
    alarm condition.

You can drive in door-open state by going to D or R, trying to move,
and then going to D or R or N *again* after it warns and jumps back
to Park. The car only tries to nanny you once, but if you're insistent,
    you can move.

If only the damn auto-lock worked the same way...
