In the article (link below) the drive's Ed Neidermeyer (avowed short, but Model 3 owner?) tries to assert traditional automakers focus on durability but that Tesla can't because its all about flash and diversion. No Ed, traditional automakers focus on planned obsolescence and planned failure so they can further enrich a bunch of absentee rent seeker 'investors' that are like credit cards that can't be paid off whose one skill in life is extortion through the constant threat of get me X return or I'll replace you with someone who will. Will million mile power trains Teslas are are set up to last 10x what traditional automaker vehicle would with less than 1/10 the maintenance.

Tesla is a mission oriented firm that does million mile power trains with nothing to fail and no stupid switches. It seems pretty obvious Tesla is about to introduce solid state with super caps- that cuts the weight even more, and nixes the cooling system and its weight and complexity and increases the charging speed while reducing the cost!!! Tesla is set to get their first. Niedermeyer should take a look at what Tesla has been doing to BMW. Tesla has been utterly destroying BMW and that is a very good thing. And take a look Ed at how long it took to do the newest Gigafactory in China. Tesla did it in 9 months (thanks in large part to China itself,) how long does it take US competitor to put up a factory there? How much respect do Tesla competitors get from the Chinese government- not much from what I can tell because they don't deserve it. And notice that newest Gigafactory is set up to build the Model 3 with 75% fewer steps, same with the Model Y- how long did it take other auto makers to reduce the steps in their vehicles by 75%- have they done that even over their entire histories?

Neidermeyer tried to say the Model X was a design failure. Well I don't see BMW X series any more in SoCal, I just see Tesla Xs. Ed also might have noticed that the Model 3 is the best-selling car in the more educated countries of Norway, Neitherlands and Switzerland with that trend surely spreading- was already that in CA, the most competitive market within the most competitive market. Wonder why that is. Might also know that cars are much more primary in those countries in the EU- and note that 50 million people in the UK are apparently considering EV for their next purchase (those aren't compliance or hybrid compromise numbers.) May have noticed that a certain hostile insurance ratings entity just gave the Model 3 its highest ratings- I am guessing they are anticipating the embarrassment and trying to soften it when Tesla begins to fully manage its insurance venture without the insurance company partnerships and the rates are radically lower because Tesla won't do stupid things like subsidize the total loser fossil fuel industry with its insurance pool colluding to jack up rates and minimize pay outs to be in on socializing endless fossil fuel losses.

Niedermeyer also seems to have this sub narrative going that Musk due to the idiocy and corruption of the SEC temporarily moved from the chairmanship (I think he should have fought that even as it was just designed to waste his time) which will now be followed by the board cowering and get filled with for instance puppets from the likes of International Shill Services so that Tesla can be moved into a less influential niche status by moving Musk further out- but Niedermeyer seems to be missing that Tesla has dominated the segments it has been in and in the markets its been in and that due to electric autonomy there will be a lot fewer cars to sell and Tesla won't be fighting sunk costs and parasitic investors when it increases its market share at will in a market that will sell 10-18x less vehicles soon.
Tesla will be find without incentives. Other makers face their market share simply being phased out due to TAAS compression and they won't be able to compete with Tesla for what remains and even if they could they won't be able to make their costs work against their sunk costs and remain (but if you're talking about the Ford and GM- they are structurally bankrupt already and have been for a long time per Forbes") And let us be clear jobs (GOP using workers as human shields and hostages) won't be a bail out reason

Neidermeyer also seems to be trying to pitch the Nurburgring response as a failure when it was a smashing success. It is totally credible now that the production version of the new S will now beat the much smaller Taycan by close to 40 seconds as projected by Tesla at 7:05 seconds. Neidermeyer has also criticized Tesla's vertical integration, he seems to think Tesla should be a "not invented here" vitamin formulator like GM that for instance sucks the Waymo tit while diverting with its apparent Cruise bs (oh yeah Soft Bank bought in- what else did Soft Bank buy "We Work?") but really is just about firms like GM trading knowing what they are doing for trying to collude and conspire to enclose and rent seek for parasites. And watch Ford and VW and the rest of them try to partner to come up with a clue between them but even together these aggregators are still clueless lacking core competencies (that they outsourced decades ago) and clueless on software and it shows. Tesla actually bothers to know what its doing, that vertical integration is system integration and speed and flexibility and fits not with creating stupid motes but with winning the innovation race and being responsive to changes and slashing unnecessary costs and improving margins and cutting unnecessary failure prone complexity out of everything. As for Musk, not only is there the founder thing (so proper skin in the game and interest aligned with share holders,) he also gets his hands dirty and has worked along side people on the line and understands the whole process and is trying to improve the state of the art- I don't think that can be said for any of the heads at the competitors, they are narrow specialists and are far removed from things. Likely none of them even have the proper educations to do their jobs right. Short burn of the century is coming Invasion USA style and its coming from Tesla.

Finally how moronic is it to say there is no crisis that needs a strident response. Even if there were no climate change and displacement, getting rid of fossil fuel power and money would be an absolute current pressing necessity because that criminality is totally and completely incompatible with democracy or societies worth living it.

    Bravo, Bob!

I don't think I've ever seen or heard that expressed as well as Teddy Roosevelt did there.
