Ok, Autogefühl has just given us a nice bit of video exploring the inside and outside of the car, including running through a lot of the controls. A must-watch.
Seems Mercedes is backtracking on that "up to 200 miles" range figure. Now, they are saying that is incorrect. Our writer Mark Kane estimates it will get close to 222 miles EPA, which is right on target with its premium competitors.
And here's a little video from Mercedes explaining how its electric drivetrain works. Really quite interesting.
Nice video by Autogefühl. I like the more station wagon look, vs a high SUV. The 'electric art' styling elements look terrible. The AMG exterior is much nicer. Even has a decent rear end. Shame about the interior, not a fan. Odd choice of double flap the charge port.
I still haven't had time to watch the whole thing, which sucks because I'm a big Autogefühl fan. But yeah, I was a little disappointed by the styling. I was expecting to like the exterior -- I certainly like the concept -- but it just doesn't quite work for me. Maybe with a bit of time... I do like some elements of the interior but that dash just falls apart for me design-wise. For me, it's mostly the screen. It too long and not well incorporated into the dash. I'd prefer two screens. Impressed that the leather substitute has a good hand, close to the real thing.
The screen, the terrible vents, the controls under the vents, the excess of buttons on the strrering wheel, the visible seat controls. I find in appealing which is a shame. The seats, and door liners look good.
