Umm, patience and tolerance didn't have anything to do with it for me.

    For me it's objective risk-aversion.

  3. This seems like it may be sage advice. Now 30,000 km after my original the motor was replaced at 17,000 km for the wheel of fortune bearing failure chatter(started at 5000 km) the noise is definitely back. I really hate the idea of going back to the dealer and complaining about this yet again and this also after over a dozen unscheduled warranty visits in its first year. Now if I could only get the battery recall label of my car I might be able to convince the wife its time to move on despite the depreciation hit. I don't think I have would enough faith in a first year Ford product but a Tesla would would be a definite consideration.

  4. Did you have your reduction drive replaced at the same time?

  5. No, as it was deemed fine by the servicing dealer and HYTAC.

  6. I had both replaced and so far so good (18K kms since).

  8. We are the poster child of the 2019 Kona’s problems and how Hyundai’s customer service sucks. I’ve posted on numerous threads about our plight with the car. Our 2019 first had an issue with a heater than didn’t work. Took 2 months for them to figure out how to fix it—a new heater from S Korea. Then a water leak from the sun roof—hose never connected at factory. Then the software updates with the bms one frying the battery—on May 10. We are still waiting for a resolution on this. Still no battery.

Got put into buyback in July and then bounced out due to someone assigning 2 VINs to us. Trying to access Hyundai consumer affairs has been a full time job and they are incredibly unresponsive and have been mostly unhelpful. After almost 4 months we finally got a “supervisor” to get involved. They claim they will put us back in the buyback but now the dealer has some batteries. We told them we’re fed up with Hyundai and just want out.

Worst experience ever with any product we’ve ever bought.

(And in case you’re wondering, we’ve tried filing a lemon law claim (NYS doesn’t cover recalls), state consumer fraud bureau (they’re considering our case but are tied up with Covid fraud cases), reported them to NHTSA, federal consumer affairs bureau, etc). Been avoiding having to hire a lawyer since we leased and don’t want to spend more on the car. The only decent thing anyone did associated with this car was to give us a loaner—although everyone thinks we work for Hyundai since we’ve had the car for 4 months and is has the dealer’s name all over it.)

So while we did enjoy the car while it worked, we’ve not been able to drive the car for 6 out of the 24 months we’ve had it. So can no longer recommend Hyundai to anyone
