Take a look at photodon.com. They have protectors made with a variety of different film types. I have their MXO film in both our Clarity and our Pilot. No smudges or fingerprints.

The native screen ought to be more scratch resistant. Very cheap. Rubbed it with my sleeve one cay and put a number of permanent scratched that would never have occurred on any of my smartphones. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. Applied a screen protector but, really. With Gorilla Glass everywhere these days. Why not on the pasted on screen?

Thanks. What is the difference between MXO and 9HO ? Would 9HO (glass) offer the same no smudge/fingerprint with
    extra protection ?

I don't know about the other films they offer. I can only tell you my experience with the MXO and it is truly delightful in resisting smudges and fingerprints. I haven't seen any scratches in either of them, and the one in our Pilot has been on for three years.

Thanks, I ordered their sample pack to see how the different films work.

  8. Gorilla Glass isn't that scratch-proof as they claimed to be. I work everyday with various phones. My experience of Gorilla Glass 1 to 5, they all get scratches without abusing.
But to my surprise the cheapo shipped from China tempered glass protector on my personal phone has no scratches.

BTW, I've used a photodon film a few times on 2 or 3 Tablet PCs years ago (last one was Thinkpad X220t, custom order as they didn't have that size at the time), they're good and good service but might not be that exceptional to justify their price. Now I just get whatever fit on ebay.

Do you have a link to the one you got, if it is still working well for you? Many thanks.

I don't care about the fingerprints, but is there anything to reduce glare?

It's been a few months, wondering if you ended up with a favorite or any opinions? Agree with rodeknyt's MXO preference? Those sample packs are cheap of course so I could just try for myself.

I was pretty disappointed in the scratch-resistance of the Clarity screen. I have only ever used a microfiber cloth to clean it, but in under a year it's ended up with a patch of shallow scratches that are quite visible in sunlight. It looks like I had sand on the cloth when I wiped it or something, but not sure how that could have happened.

My main point of comparison are my past few iPhones, which I can say have never developed a visible scratch of any kind despite easily a thousand times more use, no stick-on protection, and living in my pocket all day every day with nothing to protect it but a loose microfiber cloth.

I tested out the MXO & 9HO films from photodon.
While they did reduce the smudges, it still was not totally smudge free, so I have not bothered getting it so far.
Microfiber wipes it is for now :)
And for the record, MXO was a little better than 9HO in reducing fingerprints/smudges.

Attached is a blurry pic of the 9HO (left) and MXO (right) protectors side by side.

Same here. The glass used on the screen must be pretty soft.

I'll chime in too, my screen has a some marks in a particular area, even though it's been wiped with a microfiber.

Anyone know if there's any kind of scratch remover/compound or anything like that to buff it out?
I'm wondering if a headlight restore kit might work...

    Bueller?

Thanks for the additional info. It's the scratches that bug me, not the smudges, so maybe I'd have better luck than you with whichever material was the clearest, so long as it didn't increase glare to the point it was problematic.

Just go to their main website then to the selector which has drop-downs for make, model of car and type of film. I got the MXO and it is still doing just fine.

Photodon has protector films for everything including glare/reflection reduction.

A large fraction of the reviews of that say that it doesn't fit well; was that your experience? Sounds like they may have tolerance issues or something.

Also, how is it in terms of glare compared to the bare screen, or did you not use it "naked" long enough to have a feel for that? I can live with fingerprints but I don't want increased glare.

Has anybody tried a screen protector for 8" tablet on the the Clarity screen? Just curious.

  21. The fit isn't perfect, and it picks up fingerprints, but at least when I got it (December) there weren't a lot of choices. I'll take a picture tomorrow when I'm in the car.

Yes, I ordered one on Amazon ... after I inadvertently scratched the screen. Couldn’t agree more in how fragile and easy to scratch this screen is. They really chose a cheap tablet device for this car.
