That is good to know! I rarely go further than Redwood City so maybe that's why I still haven't run into them! By the way, I think we ordered the same color! It would be so cool if we run into each other in the future :)

  3. Nice! Did you also get enigmatic black? I've actually never seen the color in person before...hope we like it!
I'm often putting around San Carlos and Burlingame...so perhaps one day. The one road I seem to see the most SE's on is Sand Hill between 280 and El Camino...it must be a hit with the VC guys :p

You BA folks should definitely join the NorCal club and hit the road with me on the upcoming drive! It would be awesome to bond with some fellow SE-ers!

Yes, I order the enigmatic black and same color in roof and mirror too :) I watched a couple of YouTube videos and the color looked nice to me. I am sure we will like it.

I don’t like driving on freeways so if you see a SE in the future in enigmatic black on El Camino, that’s probably would be me! I am in Burlingame and Redwood City quite often too so I am sure we will run into each other

I also have yet to see enigmatic black in real life. Looks like a real cool color, so hope to see one soon. With (at least) two on the peninsula, I may get my chance.

I’m usually between Santa Clara and Palo Alto, so a bit south of you guys. Honk if you see a silver white 2022 with black roof and mirror caps. Might be me! I think I’ve seen only one other one of this color on the road.

It is nice to see so many folks from Bay Area here! Will certainly say Hi to you!

By the way, I caught another midnight black one in Millbrae today

my enigmatic black has white roof. i didn’t even know you can pick body color roof and mirror when i configured the car. i really hate enigmatic black as it’s really dark blue. but if i can put on a BMW stripe on the roof. it will look like a mini BMW. Which would be cool.

I'm not familiar with BMW stripes. Can you post a photo of the kind of BMW stripe you're considering? What color would your stripe be to complement your Enigmatic Black? Thanks.

Good to know! Hehe I think that color will work for me as I always adore dark blue color cars (especially the bmw blue)! When I ordered the car through the dealership, the salesperson told me the color of enigmatic black is about the same as the bmw dark blue so that’s why I ordered. I was indeed worried that the color will look too “black” to me :)

I saw some videos of Enigmatic Black on Youtube, it is really dark blue which surprised me. And my BRG IV was also a surprising thing at the first glance, it was too light, and now I'm loving it very much.

  15. I'm hoping it's similar to the BMW carbon black, which has blue undertones in direct sunlight. I have a 5 series now in titanium silver, and carbon black is the one color I wish I had gotten instead. I'm probably most worried about the wheels...but my wife REALLY wanted the power spoke design (I like the rail spoke but not enough to put up a fight). We almost switched to the white roof, but the car was in production by the time we had thought to make the change.

I'll be sure to wave if we ever bump into each other on El Camino!

Here's my Power Spoke anti-curbing training kit:

Just kidding. Saturday, I took one photo with the special Power Spoke balancing accessory on the front wheel and another with the accessory on the back wheel and then Photoshopped them together. I like my Power Spoke rims so much that I put them on only for Drive Electric Day events. The rest of the year I'm driving on MINI Loop Spoke rims I bought on eBay. The car definitely corners better with the low-profile 17-inch tires, but it's better equipped to handle Ann Arbor's potholed streets with the taller-profile 16-inch tires.

I loved the Enigmatic Black color. Saw one on the lot and ALMOST chose it, but my partner ended up ordering an X5 45e in Carbon Black (which has already been delivered and is indeed BEAUTIFUL!), so I stuck with BRG since it's still really nice and a bit iconic for the Mini.

Thanks. After seeing your mock up, I found out that BMW uses this three-color stripe for their high-performance M series. I agree it will look good on the white roof of your Enigmatic Black SE.

I hadn't seen the EB before either, until today at our NorCal fun run. One of the other 2 SE's was full EB iconic (including black belt line), with electric spoke wheels. Looked GREAT, by the way, and not sure where the blue-tint observations are coming from, but there was none in full sunlight. It's tastefully sparkled pure black in the sun. If you're interested in full black, definitely change the belt line. This one looked great. And of course I forgot to get a pic.

    Sounds like a fun day!

If that SE really was Enigmatic Black, you should have seen the purple-blue tones in the sunlight. Too bad you didn't get a photo--maybe your camera could have caught the wavelengths you didn't see. By "electric spoke wheels," I assume you mean the SE's Power Spoke wheels (pre-pandemically tagged with the unfortunate name, "Corona Spoke").

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't a fan of the Corona Spoke, so that didn't enter my memorial vernacular! Obviously just a subjective observation, and I can see how it's very appealing. I can only speak to what I saw regarding the EB, and while I wasn't looking for the blue tones, I really liked what I saw, and while it would be much more appealing to me with blue-purple, I didn't see it! I've heard many interpretations of many car colors, and honestly really love what they're doing to make car paint cool. Would love to look at the paint again with this in mind, sounds really cool!
