  3. You guys are lucky. ICE cars can, but the SE cannot be ordered in Canada with roof rails.

The naked roof is only compatible with Yakima's discontinued Q-tower system with very specific clips. Luckily I have the system with crossbars that I used with previous cars, but the q128 clips are extremely hard to come by.

Someone in Ohio is looking for $185 + shipping for a set of 4 clips.

So if you can add it, definitely add it to your build.

Those manufacturers are stupid bc my Kia Soul 2011 at that year can’t have roof rack in USA but Canadian version was ok . I took of the molding from roof and was fasteners there for roof racks the same story with SE

When I ordered my SE in the early days roof rails weren't even an option.

I pic up my SE randomly in December 15 2021 from any dealer have one was 65 miles from my location in NY which was grate what was only important for me was a color Race Green car come with roof rails $250 all rubber mats 5 $150 , heated steering wheel , 16” Hankooks summer tires , that’s what I pay extra, and a price was $29999 . I was tired to wait for my custom order in November promised by dealer by March or April Did research and pic up a car in January 3 of 2022 .

Just an FYI on cross bars: I ordered a set off of EBay that were low profile and extremely well made by an Italian company called farad. They were made specifically for BMW roof rails and they fit and look great. They were $100. I’ll try to post a picture of them on the car when I get an opportunity. The only downside is that I don’t have clips for attaching my Yakima stuff. I’m planning on tackling that with a 3d printer.

    Are they sold through OMAC?

Yes. The seller is OMACUSA. The bars create some wind noise, but they are super easy to take on and off. There are no locks on it, so that might be an issue for some.

Agree with the idea that if you have ANY inclination of using a roof rack it's a no-brainer to spend a few bucks to have the rails installed in your build. Everything I've heard suggests you really can't do them yourself. I put on after-market rails for our Hy-Hi, but they had pre-drilled holes and panels. The MINI doesn't have that. And these things a super low-profile as to not even be visible unless you're looking for them.

Hence “may be an issue for some”

I don’t have locks on the crossbars on my other car but sometimes I wish I did (like when I’m traveling to another city)

Roof rails are installed in order to transfer some kind of cargo. For example bicycles like I do. And in this case, the range does not matter if the car fulfills its purpose of transporting bulky cargo
I got my SE without racks. I'm quit crazy about cycling. So, I purchased a bike rack on amazon. This review helped me a lot to make a choice. Now I'm happy cause can take my bike where ever I go.

That's why I have the rails and crossbars - for biking. I use the Yakima Highroad. It works well with the Mini crossbars.

It looks like MINI only gives you one tow hook, and I'm going to need two to tie down my canoe. A) can anyone confirm that it's just the one hook or am I not looking in the right spot to find a second? B) any recommendations on where to buy a second?

According to this site, it looks like the sizes are different for the front and back, so it seems odd they wouldn't give you both.
