So, this was the cause. Having the AC off when you shutdown the car does NOT start it up when
remote conditioning for cooling. When I left the AC on this morning and started the remote conditioning,
AC turned on and cooled the car.

Can someone with a base model test this out to make sure this is just not my car behaving this way ?
    TIA.

BTW in my opinion, remote conditioning should be able to turn the AC ON irrespective of whether
it was turned off or on prior. Seems like a bad design that does not account for cold mornings and warm afternoons.

Yes, you've got to leave the system in whatever mode you want to run for pre-conditioning. It won't enable A/C if it was off when you last had the car powered on.

I have the base model. Today, I had the climate control off in the morning on the way to work. After work I used hondalink to turn on the a/c about 15min before leaving the building. BTW this take a min or two to activate. The app indicated 105 F inside the car and a/c on. When I got in the car the interior was comfortable.

ALSO! sat radio was working fine...but yesterday I did the same thing and it froze. Makes me think these cars have feelings...

And how do you feel about your car's feelings?

I would guess turning on the climate control also warms/cools the batteries? My mileage.. err kilometerage from summer 82-84 km is now sitting at 70km (epa 76) as the weather is cool in the morning and the evening heat is now being used to warm the cabin. It would be nice to have the battery up to operating temperatures by using the climate control.

I was under the impression that in the Canadian model the battery heater automatically activated only when plugged in based on ambient/battery temperature not the climate control settings. Can one of our Canadian friends verify this?

Yeah I'm Canadian and I'm trying to figure this out as the colder weather is arriving.
