My inverter fluid is a bit low and I want to top it off. I've already done the recall. Can I just buy the fluid from the dealer and refill it myself or is there some specific procedure the dealership has to do for it? It currently has the blue coolant in there.. I think it's BSC-2. I'll probably have it checked sometime for leaks, but for the time being, I just want to have it refilled without having to wait a month for an appointment here.
How low is the level and has it changed much since the TSB change last year? Mine is a bit lower than before when I took it in for the TSB coolant change, but it has not moved (still above the min level mark by about 1/2"). If the level is just a bit low, I don't see why the dealer wouldn't just top it off for free, as some may have been missed during the service campaign and it has since reared itself to show a bit low. I am sure they would have an open jug somewhere and would be more than willing to keep their customers happy for a cup or two of coolant.
It actually stayed relatively the same level from last October until July of this month.. I was tracking it after the recall just to make sure.. I stopped tracking it and then when I looked the other day it was a bit over the Min level instead of at the Max level like it usually is. I did go in to get my Reduction Gear Oil flushed and also had my brake fluid flushed too in July. I don't think the two would be related though as I think the Inverter Fluid wouldn't go near the reduction gears. Either way, I'm gonna start tracking it again to see if there is a leak somewhere, or if something else might have happened.
