Mine will not stay on more than 5-10 seconds. Tried various HVAC settings. Am I missing something or is this really the default behavior?

Read p.183 of the manual, but still want to check with others.

I tried this today and mine shut off after about 20 seconds, even with multiple tries. I did have AC on. Seeing the manual stating the car decides when to shut it off based on humidity and weather conditions it's hard to say what's going on.

That's about the longest that mine ever stays on. I only drive the MINI in 50s-60s F, low humidity.

Forgot to mention mid-20s ºF for my test. Outdoor humidity is low, but due to snow melt inside the car the internal humidity is high.

same for mine, seems like it does it just enough for those situations where I am passing a dairy farm to 'exclude' the atmosphere in more ways than one :)

I might mention this to the dealer. It's not staying on around diesel trucks, which is where I instinctively use recirculation mode in cars.
