I am one of those people, hehe... How many truck drivers got peeved with me I lost count. At least I get 5 mi/kWh.

Earl, I know you love Tesla. I admit that Teslas have some nice features that other cars don't have. But I just cannot justify MYSELF and my FINANCES in plucking down over $50k for a car with no federal rebates. Sorry. No matter how good a Tesla now for $50k, I can assure you that a better EV will be out in a few years that will cost much less.

We are all EV owners in this forum....so you will not really find any big bad gas-guzzling supporters here. Now trying too hard to convince us to switch to a Tesla is another matter. To each their own. There are really no organic Tesla-haters here with undue influence by big bad media....we all have our experiences that shape why or why would we not buy a Tesla.

As I said before, Tesla has some nice features that other cars don't have, but for the time being Kona EV was the better choice financially for me....until this battery issue popped up. I would really hope Hyundai will do the right thing and replace my defective battery for a new battery, but we will have to see. Buyback may not be a good deal for me, because I live in California and if they use the Lemon Law for calculation, I will be out over $15,000. It may be better that I keep the car.

At the same time, I am also worried about the warranty running out, because cars such as your and mine now are so electronically controlled, it may break down years later and it would cost alot of money to repair.

Anyways, I will upgrade to another EV. Whether it may be a Tesla or not, it really depends on its price and features....the main one being a solid state battery. The second is autonomous driving. That is what I will be waiting for.

I was quite disinterested in driving an EV until I got a really good deal on a compliance EV (Ford Focus Electric). Driving that car made me certain that I didn't want to go back to gas-powered cars.

I'm sure you can relate - after all, you said you leased GM's EV1, right?

I don’t remember reading Earl posts. This thread is my introduction and I don’t see any ‘hair on fire’ issues. Facts and data are never a problem for me especially if the poster left their finger prints on the vehicle. Third party and second hand … not so much.

Who cares if people hate Telsa? Every major car manufacturer is starting to make compelling EVs. We all see the factory construction updates for them every week.

There are two obvious reasons why most people don’t just go and buy EVs now. One is because EVs are not common, so people don’t see how it would work for them and the other is some people being pissed because they don’t want to be forced into using a technology they personally didn’t decide to use (I.e bans and lavish subsidies). The first issue resolves itself as more people drive EVs and the second issue would be fixed by not trying to force people to buy them. Just let people buy EVs over time.

Too often their emotional state of mind leads to repeating lies.

Again, who cares? If some people hate tesla and then buy some other EV it doesn't matter.

As a TSLA stock holder, I have different opinions.

Maybe you're right about it, but I don't think that they would be as much reliable as Tesla models are. I still don't have it, but we've tried a test drive with my uncle, using rent a Tesla service. Out test drive experience on Tesla S was outstanding, at least for me - it's the best electric car on nowadays electric cars' market.
