Not a good sign for Ioniq 5

We haven't heard anything new on this issue in weeks anyway, so more likely than not they've already corrected it, or it's relatively rare. At the moment no reason to expect this is anything but a typical early production teething problem.

 

Since I made this comment, two different items have been confirmed:

1. The IONIQ 5 is definitely not using the same batteries manufactured by LG
2. The rear view camera can be easily accessed while driving

I also haven't read of any other recalls for this vehicle in Korea or countries it has been released to. It was recalled for a coolant leak.

Although I still have the reservation, pricing is still a big unknown for Canada. I don't care about delivery delays since my 2021 Kona EV is still running well.

"I've been reliably informed today that the delay has been at Tilbury where they have been checking each vehicle for the coolant leak reported in Korea, something was rubbing against a pipe so needed tightening up. The P45's are four wheel drive meaning they have another motor at the front and I am guessing they had to remove the motor to access the pipe area, whereas the premium two wheel drive models don't have the front motor which probably means easier access to the offending pipe and quicker delivery of the demo models to dealers. During my PDI the mechanic said mine has been marked on the system as being checked before he got his hands on it which can only mean in Tilbury, so there won't be a recall for the reported coolant leaks. Why on earth don't Hyundai UK just tell the truth and we would all have understood the need for a safety check"
