When I contacted my dealer's Manager today, he indicated that have not heard anything from Honda from my order and he will update me as soon as he hears back from Honda Canada. He also indicated that worst case scenario is the orders will be rolled back to 2019 models. He also indicated that Honda is not producing new 2018 models. He also indicated that he do not anticipate the rebate will get cancelled any time soon. Based on above, I am continue to wait. As long as I get my rebate , I will get this car.

This is getting ridiculous. Especially for those of you who have been waiting since Jan. They need to give definitive answers.

I ordered base model, grey color by the end of Feb. I called dealership yesterday and was being told that they can't get the car for me. Either I pay extra $4,000 for the Touring model or I take the deposit back. Totally pissed off because I kept on getting confirmation from the Sales since Feb that the car will be ready for me by June or July. Spoke to OMVIC on phone and they said they can't do a thing about it. They said it's my choice to seek for lawyer advice or go to small claim court, it's up to me. Totally upset and pissed about the whole situation!

Honda released May Sales hit hit 59 for May, down from 73 in April. Think Honda can achieve their target of 0 for July! Where is the 60 week option for this poll?

Another clear case of Bait and Switch, see this post in this thread on how to file a complaint.

"It is not bait and switch selling if the advertiser can establish that the non‑availability of the product was due to circumstances beyond its control, the quantity of the product obtained was reasonable, or the customer was offered a rain check when supplies were exhausted." - Competition Bureau Canada

Any chance you could get them to email you that response? Pay $4k for touring or you have to take your deposit back.

Did you get a rain check for your Touring? ;) I know they have a easy defense to blame the parent company, but I still believe a pre-planned bait and switch scheme is occurring.

FYI, Honda does monitor (see below) this site but I don't think they care at all about what we think or do.

This is a little long so bare with me.

On Wednesday, a sales manager called me and told me on the phone my car is not coming, I have 2 options, get my deposit back or pay an extra almost $5000 ($4000 + 13% tax + 3.99% finance interest) to get the Touring that is being shipped right now. On the phone, I said I will think about it and told him I will let him know.

This is what happen yesterday morning. I texted my dealer asking to meet with her and her manager to discuss my car's non-arrival after over 4 months, I told her I will be there around 1pm. She said no problem. Around 1:03pm, she texted me and ask me if I am there yet and told me to ask for either one of her manager (they have 2) and she won't be there but will be back shortly.

I got to the dealership at around 1:12pm. Talked to the receptionist and ask to speak to either one of the manager. She ask me if I have an appointment and I told her I made the appointment with my dealer. She left for about 2 minutes and a man approach me and ask me if I have an appointment, at this point I am a little confused as I thought I had an appointment especially if my dealer actually texted me less than 20 minutes ago and asked me if I am at the dealership. I told him Linda (my dealer) set up the appointment and he said he's the manager. Actually he's the person I talked to on Wednesday except I didn't know because he did not offer his name.

Anyway, just curious, has any of you been to a car dealership as a client (since I put down a deposit already, I consider myself their client) and have booked an appointment and the manager does not smile nor does he offer a handshake nor offer to take you to his office?

As now the 2 of us are standing in front of the reception area and having a conversation. After a couple of minutes, I ask him if we could sit down so we can talk, instead of taking me to his office, he walked to an empty part of the dealership (I guess it belongs to a sales person that's not there) and offer me a chair while he's just standing there staring at me. I asked if he would like to sit down and talk, he did.

We talked about the provincial rebate, and if I am getting a new car, do we have to sign a new contract and how will this affect my rebate (since I bought the car in Jan, I am suppose to get the $14k instead of $13k) and he said it will be the same contract, just the number will be changed. He mentioned there is a Touring coming sometime mid to late June and another one coming in July. Now I have introduced 2 of my friends in Feb and early Mar to buy the car so I am expecting the dealer to have 3 cars coming and when I mentioned that, he did not say anything.

I also ask him how is it possible that 4 months has pass and they don't know the status of our cars, until 1 week before the election. If they had let us know sooner, I could have gotten a different car, he did not answer

Next I asked him about the discount that all 3 of us got when we sign the contract (which is $700) and he said we can keep the discount. When I ask for additional discount as we are upgrading to a higher trim, his answer is 'absolutely not'. Basically get the deposit and leave or pay the $5000 and be happy to get the car. At that point, he actually offer to take me to his office and do the paper work so I can get my deposit back. When I ask him if I am getting any interest for having my money deposited for 4 months, he did not say anything. I just told him I will think about my options and will get back to him and left. At the time of me leaving, my dealer was not back from where ever she was.

He (Hello Steve) also mentioned he has seen the name list we are creating so he and may be other dealers and even Honda Canada is monitoring this group and are seeing what we will be doing in the near future.

As a final note, I have never met someone as rude as Steve in that he offer no handshake, no smile, no sit down and talk.

As someone once told me, don't get mad, vote with your wallet (and all my friends and families' wallet and since this is the social media age, vote with everyone's wallet, Yelp anyone)

PS I did text my dealer and ask her to have her manager to send me an email detailing this new offer, 2 days now, nothing from her nor her manager

This is again so discouraging, about to just drop everything about having anything to do with clarity of any years and start a negative campaign about Honda with just using the truth and facts. This is sad and insulting.

Soooo....who in Ontario is cancelling their 2018 Clarity order today, since no production/delivery date is in sight? Thanks Honda!

Don't cancel yet. Did you file a complain with the competition bureau of Canada?

If you are waiting for the 2018 MY base trim, then you can forget it. But there's some shipment of Touring coming in so if you can afford the $4600 price increase, then you can probably get that instead.

Little Trump is now in power and he promised to reduce gas tax by $0.035, I suspect the gas price will go down for a couple of weeks following him lowering the gas tax and then the oil company will starting raising gas price gradually so they can pocket that money themselves.

He also has promised to scrap carbon tax and the cap and trade, combine with his gas tax cut and other tax cut, that is close to $10,000,000,000 that somehow he will have to find. I guess that's what the middle class is for since he can't tax the rich and corporation that got him elected

Let's take it easy for a little bit, campaign promises in Canada are usually ignored after elections. Maybe he'll work on making $1 beer first :D:rolleyes:

I guess you are right, he already broke his 1st promise by not having $1 beer last night at the Congress Center, instead it's $10 for domestic and $11.50 for import...

I guess that's how he will balance his budget :(

    What
We already have an example of what he feels he should do.
Promising to pave the green belt gives an idea where his mind is at.
People do not vote so much for a party here as they do vote against a party. PC threw a face and name up there that slow, gullible and isolated people would believe contrary to the evidence or lack of common sense reasoning. Let's face it, for whatever good things the Liberals did they also did a lot of bad things that good ethics would not have allowed.

I guess the NDP are just a bunch of boobs splitting the votes. Give people more than 2 options and they cannot handle it.

I would bet money the rebate is going to go. Ford needs to scrap programs to get the small minded people seeing money is being saved or to pay for things and since one of his promises was to pave the green belt i can't see those small minded people being too up in arms about a little rebate they don't care about because they love gas.

Presto one , it is very difficult to control other's action. One thing we can do at this point is bight the bullet and go with Touring model and move on.

What I think will happen is that we will see a reduction in the credits. It could go away completely but supporting the change to EV conversion is something most parties abree with.

The killing of the credits will greatly effect the people who bought their EV/PHEV vehicles with the rebate. They would have positive equity in their cars for years to come.

I didn't know you were told you were not going to get the car agreed upon. I am still expecting the base grey and was reassured that it was still coming.

2 things would prevent me from getting the touring.
    .I would feel conned.
.The 3 - 4K for a touring makes the car unaffordable to me, I can't justify doing that to my budget.

I am still of the mindset that the people that did not get their base model cars were simply treated poorly and dishonestly by their dealer or were told when they made the deal there was a reasonable chance that they might not get the car for many, many months.

The car will depreciate at rate of at least 5K per year so positive equity, maybe for 2 years if they sell it privately.
If they had a 300K EV right at a decent price now that is what I would have been buying, not a PHEV
The market is opening up, the tech is getting better and the prices of the cars will drop a lot once production is stable.

Just with your numbers an EV owner that took advanage of the 14k rebate should have positive equity for about 5 years. At 0 down your payments will be around $450-$500 a month. So that will take of the annual depreciation and they will still have the $12k they received as a credit. I do agree prices will drop but not by 25% in the next 5 years. It will be gradual about 2% a year so in ten years a brand new Clarity should be $8000 cheaper and that's hoping technology advances at a pace that these things become drastically cheaper to produce and the reduction will not happen until there is a large adoption.
