Anyone try the update from the Kia downloader on the non-premium Niro. I would like to update the software but I don't have navigation. The updater shows me an update that I can download but I do not trust that it is giving me the correct files. Any input would be appreciated.

  4. You are right not to trust... it is the Kia NAVIGATION downloader. Not the any kia downloader.

I think wherever you live you need to check with the dealer, if nothing else but to see if there is an update.

I have a 2019 Niro EV EX Premium Release Edition

Last year, KIA sent me an email notifying me that a map/infotainment update was available; it cost nearly $200 at the time, including $25 for the SD card if you chose that option.

I got no email this year, but I went back to the same site, and an update was available. This time it was free to download, or $25 if you want a new SD card. I chose the latter just because it can be a hassle to get the download to work and set up properly.

  6. Yes, you must have gone to the map 'n soft website, which a few weeks earlier, can now divert you to update.kia.com if you choose the "download free" option.

The download is no big deal, just slow... Have done it about 8 times so far (checking for new updates)
