Native NACS (J3400) and XRT version new for 2025

  1. From Hyundai U.S. Media Center:
Hyundai Debuts U.S.-Built 2025 IONIQ 5 Range, Including New Adventure-Ready XRT - Hyundai Newsroom
Finally NACS (J3400) to be equipped on the 2025 MY I5. I would think this will be the end of the heating of the charge port issues/throttling update with the larger pins in the NACS should handle the larger current flow when charging @11.5 kW.
Also opens the door (pardon the pun) for Tesla supercharging w/out adaptor requirements enabling more locations to DC charge.

Also a new "off -pavement" version XRT trim equipped with ~ a 1" lift for a bit more ground clearance, 235/60 R18" all terrain tires and front tow hooks with 5834 lbs towing capacity.
    • Approach angle: 19.8 degrees (non XRT 17.5 degrees)
    • Departure angle: 30.0 degrees (non XRT 25.4 degrees)

The Ioniq 5 XRT will be at US dealerships by the end of 2024 and starts production about 3 weeks after other Ioniq 5 models. :)

Does the Ioniq 5 XRT include more robust protection for the battery, the favorite, low-hanging fruit of evil rocks?

  3. Canadian media release here:
Hyundai Debuts 2025 IONIQ 5 Range, Including New U.S.-Built Adventure-Ready XRT - Hyundai Canada Newsroom (hyundainews.ca)
Maybe just an error in writing, but the way I read it the J3400 (NACS) port will be only available with the XRT version:

    American Media release:
"2025 IONIQ 5 models gain access to 17,000+ Tesla Superchargers via new North American Charging Standard (NACS) port"

    Canadian Media release:
"2025 IONIQ 5 XRT models gain access to 17,000+ Tesla Superchargers via new North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, with adapters available for all other models."
I will try to get this cleared up and report back, unless anyone else has any insights:confused:

  4. No mention of any additional protection for the battery for the production version.
There have been reports on other forums of modified enhancements:

Additionally another piece may be available, but not much success in tracking one down...yet:

It's great that all 2025 Ioniq 5s come with a rear wiper--XRT owners will especially appreciate it when they go off-road.

Did Hyundai fire the bean-counter who originally nixed the rear wiper?
