Sure, but you don’t know how little driving is done in this city. Plus, I’m trying to figure out why he can’t drag a cable across the sidewalk like I’ve seen all over here with Teslas.

And, maybe he gets a Bolt or Kona.

My joke was about them finding excuses to drive. I do that often myself and I'm a pretty low mileage driver. Let's just say it's doubtful my kid will ever get this car because I know how teens are with cars like this ... I was bad enough with my beaters.

    Actual conversation from this week:
Mrs. Insightman: "Where have you been?"
Insightman (been driving in this town 56 years): "I got lost."

Hah. I always use "I was exploring" as my excuse.

This. Road exploring. Of course, my wife knows me well enough that all I have to say is "driving" and she understands.

I actually find myself using navigation to plot "green" routes that take me into areas of town I've never been to before. It's a fun way to sight-see the local neighborhoods. And by following the navigation routes you can always use "the car made me do it" as an excuse.

    Good idea!

My husband knows my love for driving fortunately and never questions me. In face he suggests I go run errands and take the long way home. :D

The SE in this YouTube review made 60 mph in 6.05 seconds. Shame on MINI for continuing to list a pokey 6.9 seconds. I wonder how much they'll de-rate the quickness of the Zhangjiagang SE?

The reviewer can't wait until MINI does away with the old-fashioned dashboard design. And, surprise, he doesn't like the range (he claims it's only 110 miles in "real-world" testing). While his overlay displays the SE's 3,143-lb weight, he says it's just over 3,200 lbs (maybe he's counting his weight). On the plus side, he doesn't think the fake hood scoop belongs.

I love that you patiently took the time to respond to so many of the utterly ridiculous comments. Well done!

The comments on that video are a rabbit hole of frustration. Many people just don't understand the SE's place in the market and dismiss it in ignorance. I would never recommend it as the only car in a household where you need to make road trips without adequate charging infrastructure. But as an additional, non gas guzzling vehicle in a house, it's perfection. We are saving a lot of money on gas and maintenance. Sorry - just caught myself preaching to the choir...

If I recall correctly, I remember you having a green F36 (I had a F32) prior to the SE but auto journalists were also giving the "it's just a more expensive 3 Series" lazy review when the 4GC came out. The F30 was just so ubiquitous that I'd rather get something slightly less practical and a little more unique (for just a small premium). Fast forward to post 2020 and BMW took it to heart by adding in grilles with looks only a mother could love.

Anyways the point is that living with the SE is a much more positive experience that what the journalists report on.

Lots of uninformed opinions in the comments, as usual.
Specials LOLs for the 'nobody will buy this' guy. It's only the most popular model that Mini makes...
