  1. There seems to be a decent number of Massachusetts residents on this forum. Does anybody know the answer, will it depend on if I itemize?

    Thanks!

I don't live in MA, but when something is labeled as a "rebate" it generally is considered your (already taxed) money being returned to you. So, it wouldn't be taxable.

The FAQ says "it may be considered taxable income" and goes on to say that it is your responsibility to figure it out. Any tax professionals on the house?

  5. Right - I even emailed them asking and the representative responded with the same quote. How am I supposed to figure out if they give such ambiguous information?

Rebates aren't usually taxable. If you feel that you can interpret it as a rebate, then you should be fine. Considering Massachusetts itself calls it a rebate...
