BTW, just for comparison, a 1988 Porsche 944S had a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds, slower than a Clarity.

I think the app automatically stops at 60mph so it doesn't depend on someone pushing a button.

Have not experimented a lot on long rides but I drive Econ all the time if within EV range, which under certain conditions has reached over 90km.

Beyond EV range I found it is best not to deplete the battery especially if there are hills to climb. So I switch on HV mode to keep the battery level up, and when the destination is within reach I disable HV and arrive in style.

I never use Sport mode, can’t stand having the ICE running and don’t need it to merge onto highway. There’s enough power in EV mode for that.

I use sport mode all the time around town and the engine never comes on! It allows you to have the max brake regeneration stay on all the time and overall has no significant effect on milage.

I'm willing to experiment, maybe it's a question of remaining in the 'blue', that the acceleration pedal is more sensitive.

Everything seems so "sudden" in Sport Mode. It accelerates much faster (more sensitive throttle) and threatens to get into white zone quickly, and when you let off the accelerator immediately acts like it is braking even on highway (60+ mph) speeds - a bit unnerving.

I just started using Sport mode for the first time last week (I've owned the car since Feb 1 and have always been in Eco mode) and I'm hooked. The car feels super responsive and lots more fun. I now stay on Sport mode for all my city driving. The torque and responsiveness is addictive and makes my eco mode seem boring and sluggish now.

I'm too lazy to get someone to follow me and watch my brake lights. In ECON Mode, the brake lights come on when you select the highest level of regen using the left Decelerator Paddle Selector. What happens in SPORT Mode? If you select the highest level of regen in SPORT Mode, do the brake lights stay on all the time (doubtful) or just come on when you let off the accelerator pedal? Do the brake lights come on in SPORT Mode if you have selected the either of the other 2 levels of regen (yes, there are only 3 optional levels, not 4)?

What I've noticed is adding regen with the left paddle there are three steps. But subtracting with the right paddle there are four.

Does anyone know how to make Sport the default mode? Econ seems to be it... Like Rajiv I really like Sport - and haven't noticed any real loss of range (2000 km 3 litres gas - I think - says 405 klicks left and my engine meter says .7 hrs)

I have found that if you first pull the "+" paddle, you will get level one regen. Then use the "-" paddle for levels 2, 3 and 4. However, level 1 regen seems like nothing more than taking your foot off the accelerator.

I agree with Tailwind: the lowest (single V symbol) seems to be exactly the same as the default regen (no V symbols). The new Insight gets 3 regen levels and I expect its single V symbol will represent more regen than the default.

BTW, they built the first gen3 Insight in Indiana last week.

Nope, you cannot make SPORT Mode the default and the other modes cannot get their Deceleration Paddle selections to stick.
