Just wondering if you had the results from the oil analysis that you could share to the forum? Curious as my first oil change showing now 7713 miles and 48 gallons of gas (probably just over 2100 HV miles).

Should have a 4th poll option:
    • I don't mind having an immaculate engine that gets oil changed 2x as often as it needs and never exceeds 2800RPM. Also, I look forward to buying undervalued, used Clarity engines in 5-15 years.
In all seriousness though, I was comforted to find out how cheap our oil filters are and how little oil this car takes. It would be great if the car actually analyzed the oil or counted operating hours but it seems very unlikely that Honda is going to respond to a feature request on an already released car.

Honda did respond to all the complainants about the erroneously high HV Range bug and issued a Sevice Bulletin to fix it. So we are not without hope that if they get a similar outpouring of complaints that just require a software patch they will address the problem. We just need to get enough people on the forum to make the effort to report it to Honda.
The squeaky wheel got the grease last time so maybe it will again.

Purchased my Clarity on 9/1/2018. Have 6200 miles on the car. Got a message that service was due in 4 weeks (A1). Reset the code for tire rotation. Now service is due in 4 months. This is the way to avoid oil change at 6500-700 miles. I have a friend near my office who is a tire dealer. I will have him rotate the tires in a few weeks and get the oil change when it comes up in 3 - 4 months.

The service in due in 4 months may again be triggered by the need for a tire rotation. If you reset the MM 1 code again at that point it will likely push out the need for oil change to the 12 month anniversary of the car, when the oil must be changed no matter what.

What kind of oil should be used? Synthetic? Normal?

I believe the recommended oil, 0W20, is only available as a synthetic.

    Manual says
    ■ Engine Oil

Recommended ·Genuine Honda Motor Oil 0W-20
    ·API Premium-grade 0W-20 detergent oil

    So more expensive juice.

I may just do it. This is a leased car that I will happily turn in when the lease is up. The ICE issue is just so absurd that sometimes I am sorry we ever leased the car.

This is from the Chevy Volt manual which, despite protests from Honda, is a very similar vehicle to the Clarity Hybrd
    Engine Oil Change

Every 24 months or when the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message displays, change the

engine oil and filter as soon as possible, within the next 1 000 km/ 600 mi. The engine oil and filter must be changed at least once

    every 24 months.
