We all need to remember that using the paddles does not lite the brake lights. If you get rear ended stopping without break lights the other party may claim your stop lights were defective and you may be at fault.
Mine do not come on even at 4 chevrons. If I have 4 chevrons and press the brake pedal the lights come on, but go off when the brake pedal is released.
The rear brake light does not come on when using the regeneration paddle. I use regeneration paddle when I'm making a turn. Honda's regeneration paddle is a major failure. The egolf, Ioniq, and Outlander did it right.
Our 2008 Prius didn't have paddles. It and the Clarity behave the same as far as breaking. Light pressure is regen, more pressure is physical brakes. I could never tell when the brakes were engaged, same as the Clarity. But with care and slow approaches to stop signs and red traffic lights the brakes don't get used much. My son now owns the old Prius. It's pushing 200,000 miles soon and still on the original brakes.
