Again, like BobCubsFan and ICE turn on, apparently this app registration issue is affecting a very small but vocal number of owners. Vast majority of owners have not had a registration problem. Using an exclamation mark emphasizes the truth of the statement, believe me.

I'm one of the extremely unlucky owners who experience ICE on full battery what feels like every other day and hondalink registration failures.

I had to wait a week for it work. Found out after the fact it was due to the dealership taking its time getting the paperwork entered

Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs

First in IOS You need to be using the plain Hondalink app not Hondalink EV then put in VIN and create pin in app add ZIP on Paperwork enable advanced features I created user name/password on line. I lopped in to app. followed instructions to add my Phone to Bluetooth then open app inside car.

I got my Clarity yesterday and have no problem registering Hondalink app but I figured that if someone got my VIN number he be able to put it in Hondalink app and get my car information (battery, fuel range.. .) as well as my car location , am I right ?

Wouldn’t the 6 digit code sent to the car prevent that?

In my case, I be able to locate my car after putting VIN number, the 6 digit code for activate the remote controling of the carther (on/off climate, start/stop charging...)

I was wrong, wihout 6 digit active codes, we can't locate the car as well as read the information. In my case above, that just because after putting the VIN number , Hondalink app show the map which locate my phone for parking remider, because I stand next to my car so I thought the map was showing my car's position :-D

@JJim Hondalink is the world’s most secure app: its securitY features guarantee that no one can access the car whether they own it or not.

Seriously, there are all these interlocks among VIN, the email address known to the dealer, the PIN, and the messages sent to the in-car Hondalink screen. Honda’s buggy implementation of all that seems to be at the root of the problems some of us have had, but I have heard of no instances where the system was too lenient and allowed evildoers to gain access

    Victory!

As the OP, back in April, I’m pleased to announce my “graduation” from this thread.

This afternoon, after no contact for weeks, I got a voicemail from in car tech support suggesting that I log in to the app again. I’ve done this many times before, but I figured they must have called for a reason.

My login with email address and ZIP failed as always. I then did the next step, requesting a code to be sent as a message to the car. That code has always failed in the past, but this time it was accepted. My nightmare (correction, minor irritation) is over.

I don’t know if they fixed something in my account or a general software issue. Whatever; I am linked and happy, and it only took four months.

Same for me. I had given up after posting in this thread, and decided to wait for tech support.

When I got out of bed on July 3 my phone had a Hondalink message "Charging Stopped". I did a double-take, and launched the Hondalink app and all remote features seem to be functioning. And still no messages or phone calls from Tech Support...

Not sure what changed but now it works after a 6 week wait.

    Tangible and LargeJohn,

I am having the same problem as you, I am at the step where I receive the code, enter the code, phone app ask for personal PIN, enter the PIN and got the error message (Invalid Code) and kick me back to the 'enter code' page.

When your app start working, do you have to go thru these steps again or it just start working? Thanks

I had the same issue as @iluvscuba before. My issue was the email address that I used to register my hondalink account did not match what the dealer entered. After calling Hondalink tech support, the person was able to see that they didn't match, I went back and fixed my email on hondalink account and was able to register.

Alantn, I don't have problem registering, it's after all those steps where I am stuck. Were you able to enter your personal PIN into the Honda Link phone app and proceed to the next step (which is what)?

@iluvscuba Yes, it failed after entering the PIN and said that the code did not match. The same pattern that you described. Once I had my email fixed (the email is the account you registered with Honda), went back into HondaLink and after entering the PIN, the app will go back to the home screen without any more errors. Work with Hondalink tech support. I think it's most likely that issue.

Based on this thread, it seems the issue is either that your dealer has not yet entered your info and reported the vehicle as delivered in Honda's system, or the info they entered is somehow incorrect (typo on email address or postal code). I don't think the PIN is really the issue, it's just the last step and where it is hanging up based on the error of lack of data (not reported yet) or incorrect data match (typo or different email being used).

Besides the dealer not entering your info, they can also enter it with a typo. It seems all info must match: name and email. Mine would not work until I used the exact name and spelling from my sales contract.
