Just bought a G52 Honda-Care policy from Sean at Hyannis Honda for the G52 warranty/5 year 120k miles. Price was $1494.

My factory warranty was due to expire in a few days so I was able to add 5 additional years of coverage and another 95000 miles of coverage

I made this decision for the following reasons:

    1. Warranty is transferable to a new owner in a private sale which should add value for a new buyer. Like a certified used car vs an as is sale.

    2. Cost of coverage is refundable on a pro-rats basis if traded in to a Honda dealer.

    3. Clarity is out of production and as an orphan vehicle parts made just for the clairty will never be available on the aftermarket.

I’ve never bought an extended warranty on any vehicle but the Clarity is a big box of electronics and expensive to repair.

My clarity is 4 yrs 36K miles now. There is some rattling noise coming from the front. I think it's inside the speaker housing. The weather strip that seals the passenger door behind the driver is coming off as well.

I took it to the dealer and they said $190 for diagnosis if not covered by extended warranty. I was sure it will be covered since I was promised bumper to bumper warranty for the 8yrs 100K warranty just like the first 36K warranty.

At the end of the day, Honda Care said that those 2 things are not covered and dealership can charge customers to diagnose before warranty work. Only drive train, engine, hybrid battery etc are covered. Even exhaust system is not covered.

You might wanna call Honda care @ 800-999-5901 to make sure.
I blew 2 original tires on this vehicle. It's a pain since there is no spare and the tire is not readily available. Finally I changed to a regular Michelin Pilot tires but mileage suffers now.

    Good luck with your Clarity.

RE "Even exhaust system is not covered" - please see attached for ZEV states.
See page 17 of the attached Basebook warranty information from Honda.

Sorry to dig up and old thread. I didn't look at the date of the last posting.

Anyway, maybe its of value to have Honda Warranty related documents posted together. The TLDR version is that it does appear that the exhaust system is specifically covered.

I spoke to Hyannis, technically this isn't true.

Hyannis only cares about the model year and mileage <= 36000, rather than the in-service date. This means there's no difference if the car was put into service in a prior year, the model year, or the subsequent year, all those cars are treated as the same model year.

They offer current year, and prior three years. That means when 2024 models come out in, let's say September 2023, then only 2021-2024 cars are eligible for Hondacare, regardless when your 2020 was put in service. Your 2020 could have been put in service 2/2021, but be unable to purchase Hondacare F and G plans in September 2023.

I kept my 2002 Subaru outback for 13+ years and used the extended warranty several times. Other than that, I've wasted a lot of money on warranties over the years.
