    Got email to pre-configure 2023 id4.
Decided to go with RWD Pro (for bigger battery).
It has heat pump option for extra $1500.
Do I need it, does it make sense to pay that extra amount?
I am from Canada, Toronto. It could be cold here, but not Arctic cold.
    Thanks!

  3. Not an ID.4 owner, but my advice is to buy the optional heat pump as it saves a lot of energy (adds at least 30% more range in cooler weather- at least on my last 4 EVs (2) Leafs and (2) Kona Evs) compared to the resistive heat alternate. The heat pump generally pays off to a low of about -10 degrees C, after that the resistive PTC heater will cut in more regularly. It does surprise me that VW does not include that feature as a standard equipment in Canadian models. Toronto weather would be worth it IMHO;)

The heat pump should make sense everywhere in Canada except maybe Victoria area.
