The text of the Voltec warranty is what would make the difference in court. If the information you found that disagrees with GM's claim is not found in the warranty text, you probably don't have a case against GM. I don't believe a service bulletin would supercede the original written warranty. A competent service adviser would know what the warranty covers and advise you if he or she believes what you need isn't covered before commencing service. That encounter at the dealer's service center appears to be where things went wrong. Things went really wrong if the dealer performed non-warranty services for which you didn't agree in writing. In that case, you might have a case against the dealer. Things really, really went wrong if replacing the shifter didn't fix the problem. Did it fix the problem?
