Ford spun off its self-driving business into a new company, reported lower revenues and profits for its second quarter and lowered its guidance. The tariffs are likely to hurt Ford too like other carmakers. Source - https://news.alphastreet.com/ford-posts-q2-2018-earnings-decline/
I think it's stupid, inefficient, wasteful, and time-wasting for every auto maker to independently work on developing a self-driving system for cars. They should form a consortium to develop a standardized set of controls and sensors, and standardized software to control the cars. They would also share costs that way. It's not bad enough that self-driving cars will have to deal with unpredictable human drivers on the road; they'll also have to deal with other self-driving cars which are not programmed to react the same way they are!
Wow, nice points! Yeah, I agree with you. With all these self-driving cars on the road, we can surely expect a lot of chaos.
